Tom Valerio

Co-Founder

Tom has more than 30 years of experience as a developer of sustainable technological solutions for the recovery of non-ferrous metals groups. Tom partnered with R. Paul Smith to start Tompaul Industries and, backed by $250M+ of equity funding from both himself and Paul, has led research and development efforts each year to continue developing innovative separation technologies. His research and development efforts have yielded a 170+-patent portfolio, 32 of which are licensed exclusively to TAV Holdings, and over 120 of which are licensed exclusively to Tompaul Industries.

Paul Smith

Co- Founder

Paul is the President and CEO of Smith Industries, Inc., the Mid-Atlantic’s largest scrap metal recycling operation. He took over the business in 1974 from his father, and, at the time, the company had one location and was generating just under $200,000 in total annual sales. Today, the company has 24 locations, three mega shredders, and posted $500,000,000 in sales in 2022.

Ashley Day

Managing Director

With over 25 years of experience in the recycling and resource recovery sector, Ashley has led the development and execution of some of the world’s largest and most sustainable materials recovery operations.

Under his leadership, TAV has established the industry’s first vertically integrated model—delivering full turn-key systems that not only recover high-value commodities from waste, but also transform them into finished products reintroduced into the global market.

Ashley’s strategic vision and operational expertise continue to drive TAV’s growth and scalability, positioning the company at the forefront of the circular economy and creating long-term value for investors, partners, and the environment.

Brian Maxted

Advisor

Brian E. Maxted is an advisor for TAV Industries and the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Holloway Group. Brian is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the group by working with the executive management team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.
